The Stacks is a mixed-use, urban waterfront community located at Buzzard Point, where the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers converge. Developed by Akridge and National Real Estate, the project integrates residential, retail, workplace, and public open space into a cohesive neighborhood.
LAI, in collaboration with West 8, was engaged to design the ground-level public realm, including pedestrian-oriented streets and 3 urban plazas. My role focused on the completion of construction documents and full construction administration. This included on-site coordination among multiple trades to ensure the successful installation of all landscape elements, maintaining design intent, schedule, and quality control.
I also led quick design charrettes with the ownership team to implement late-stage design refinements and to resolve unforeseen site conditions, allowing the project to move forward efficiently while preserving the original design vision
