Working with the Parks Department, I provided design options for the Metro Station entry at the proposed Transit Center in Silver Spring, MD. The entrance from the new Transit Center to the existing Silver Spring Metro Station was bare and devoid of any design features.
I developed three quick design options using pen and color marker on trace paper. The three options were inspired by the Piazza del Campidoglio, a well known plaza in Rome.
The three design options were the jumping off point for EDAW (now AECOM) to develop the final built design, which was a synthesis of the three design schemes.
These sketches were done with pen on trace paper and rendered with markers.
